Hello, world: introducing ReaTech
Who we are, what we are building, and why we are going to build it in public.
ReaTech is an independent game-technology studio, and this is the first entry in our development log.
We’re building a voxel sandbox game on top of our own C++ engine. It’s early. Most of our work right now is invisible: memory layouts, threading, and the code that turns millions of blocks into something a GPU can draw quickly. We still think that’s the most interesting part to write about.
What we’re making
The game (working title Project Lattice) is a sandbox where the world is the main character. Everything is made of blocks you can dig, move and build with. Underneath the blocks we want systems you can learn and use: light, materials and, eventually, things like fluids that react to what you’ve built.
We’ll keep a candid list of what exists, what’s in progress and what’s still an idea on the game page.
Why build in public
Small studios live or die by trust. We’d rather show real progress, including the parts that go wrong, than polish a trailer for years and hope it lands. This devlog is where we’ll do that:
- Engine deep-dives: how the engine works and the trade-offs we made.
- Progress reports: what changed, with real captures from the engine.
- Design notes: ideas we’re testing and why some of them get cut.
Help us shape it
We’ve opened a feedback board where you can suggest features and vote on other people’s ideas. We read everything, and we’ll mark ideas as planned, in progress or shipped as development moves.
If you’d like to hear when there’s something to play, join the mailing list. We’ll only email when there’s real news.
Thanks for being here this early.
